Doors not closing properly? (archive)

Hey all--

This is my first post to the board. I drive an automatic black '94 325is. Anyway, I find that the doors cannot be simply "thrown" shut, and must be pushed with what seems like an excessive amount of force. Is this just the way that cars were manufactured in '94? Because I notice my dads '98 528i doors close much more easily.
