I had the same problem on my 95 318is and it required replacement of the plastic housing in which the fuel pump/sender unit sits. The connectors on which the hoses were fitted had become warped (somehow) and were not providing a good fit for the hoses. Is this what you're referring to, Martin?

It's located under your rear seat. When I took the seat out, I noticed (to my shock) that there was a pool of fuel standing in that housing where the hoses run in/out almost 2 inches deep!

I think total cost including parts and labor (from an excellent BMW only mechanic in Louisville, KY was around $120).

: A not uncommon thing on the e36 is a seepage at the fuel pressure regulator at the front of the fuel rail. this is right above the thermostat. Try just tightening the hose clamp.
