I think we all agree that a clean & shiny black car is a beautiful thing. Something about shiny black adds an extra dimension to a cars looks.

But, it's like having a beautiful girfriend that's a drug addict. Just one micron below the surface, there are all kinds of problems. Nice to take out on a Saturday night, but living with them every day is difficult.

If you are lucky enough to own a black car and use it just on weekends (or special occasions), then go for it. If you're going to drive it every day, it will look incredible 1-2 days after a waxing and that's about it (yes, it will look OK a bit longer). Swirls, scrtches, dust, dings, pits, all make a mess of black paint. I'm in California where there is no rain all summer. Still, the car will look awful by the end of a week from dust and dirt and pollen.

My car (325iC) is black. My previous car was pearl white. My next car will be white.
