One amp channel can power as many speakers as you desire, provided that the combination results in a 4 ohm load, which is usually the case. But in general, most people use a single channel to drive their components, which consist of a woofer and tweeter and the supplied crossover that comes with the components. So to have a set of left and right components in both the front and rear, you'll need four amp channels. Then for your sub, you'll need at least one channel, as setup varies greatly in this area with some people using combinations of one, two, and three or more subwoofers in combination. Generally speaking though, in the scenario you described, you'll need a minimum of 5 channels but i cannot advise on using the factory rear speakers as this will complicate your crossovers/#channels setup. Use aftermarket components in the rears also.

: The thing that confuses me about amps are the channels. How much can one channel power? Does 1 channel power a pair of speakers or just one? Finally what type of amp (# of channels) would I need to power component speakers, the factory rears, and a 10 or 12 inch sub.
: Sorry for the stupid question,
: James
