The lamp illuminates because one of or both of the pad sensors located at the driver's front and passenger rear have come in contact with the brake rotor. The rotor wears the sensor until it opens the circuit which the OBC i/o picks up. The sensor itself requires replacement, ~$12.00 each. The sensor is located in a notch on the inboard brake pad. The pads do not require removal to replace the sensor. I use a set of long needle nose pliers to remove. regards.
