This very much correct. When you turn on the aircon you take away alot of the engines power to convert hot air coming into the car into cold air. When I had my GTi VR6 it was ridiculous how much of a power loss I would have when I turned on the AC.

: When I turn on the Aircon. i have the feeling that the engine loses horse power, It doesn't accelerate like when the a/c is off.
