I find a shift faster if I just use the tips of my fingers to flick the stick into gear. When you aggressively hammer the stick down or up - you're bound to hit the wrong gear...
Just my .02 cents
: Last Thursday I was trying to pass a car and I went down to third gear all the way to about 97 mph and when I shifted into fourth I accidentally hit second gear! At first I reved the engine and everything seemed fine but after a while the check engine light appeared. The engine is shaking at idle so I am preety sure that I bent the valves. I simply cannot believe that this happened to me and frankly I don't know what to think. I do have a M3 3.2 engine sitting in my garage waiting for the transplant but this happened to me in just six months of owning this e36. How long before I damage the other engine? The chances of this happening again are not slim and I like to push real hard my cars (always have, always will). Sorry guys just venting out my feelings.
