How can I tell if my water pump is dead? (long) (archive)

Well, my car finally id it. My '93 325is left me stranded. Apparantly, my plastic radiator inlet (where the hose connects to) broke, and sent coolant all over my hood. I know my radiator is a goner, but what are tell tale signs of a dead water pump? Other than the radiator, the engine sounds fine. Also, I just installed an AA chip yesterday, could these things be related?

TIA
at least I have the day off tommorow :-)
