Rubber part at front edge of windshield goes away (archive)

My 92 is *really* nice, especially for it's age, but one thing I've noticed is that the rubber at the leading edge of the windshield kind of *goes away* in other words, it rots. The rest of the rubber is fine, it's just this part. The parts guy says this part is "very popular" and "VW's have the same problem" so you might want to check yours, you'll see longitudinal cracks along where it touches the glass first. There's a left and right side, and it costs about $50 for both. All you need to do is unbolt the wiper arms and undo some clips to replace these, I'll find out tomorrow, when I get these parts in. The Bentley manual doesn't cover how to replace this, I guess because it's pretty easy to figure out.
