Okay, two thoughts:

1. If you amortize the cost of the part over the time you plan on using it, will the reduced value per year be acceptable? An example: I've just Sharked my E36. At $400 US, it's a chunk of money. I'll probably us it for 2 years at least. That's $200 per year of enjoyment. Yah, I can agree to that.

2. The second involves spreading the mods over time. I've done that over 2 years (see sig below) and each time, the mod has been chosen to either refresh the feeling and thus more enjoyment of the car, or to enhance the look.

Anyway, feel for what you will be happy with.
