I don't understand why people talk about removing swirl marks with an abrasive substance. If you rub this gritty stuff on your paint, aren't you really just breaking down the paint and moving it around to cover in the swirls. In the long run won't this hurt your paint? It seems to me that detailing could really hurt one's paint job. I feel though I must be missing something, or everyone would not be doing this. Please explain this to me. Also are multiple coats of wax recommended?

Thanks.

Madison
