Here's my dilemma:

My car does not have an alarm. Therefor, to lock all of the doors before I step away from the car I have to turn the lock on the driver's side door (or passenger side) from the outside. This seems a bit odd to me. Should I be able to push the lock down when the door is open in order to lock it?

Also, is the flat key the one that can lock all of the doors from the trunk?

I bought my 95 325i 4 dr used and was given the master key, the key that looks like the master key but w/o the light.
I was not given the flat spare key.

Please help.
