Can someone give me advice on cams? (archive)

I have 1992 318i and I want to get GTC Sport Cams 292 80 duration. I don't want forced induction (turbo or supercharger). I just want to know what I should do to get good performance. I know of these following things:
intake, exhaust, headers, overbore TB, intake manifold, custom tuned chip. What else should I do to get good performance from the cams? Should I get valve train components (Valve springs and retainers) to prevent valve float or are the cams not intense enough to get them? Any advice would be appreciated.
