M3's come stock with the trim painted. You mean the side skirts right?. You can have it done on your is but I would spend some time prepping it myself. You have much more time than the body shop guy has and there is no substitute for good ol fashion preparation of the painted surface. I see this done all the time where they paint right over the gray undercoat. It has a texturized look to it and looks horrible in my opinion. Should have left it gray. Sand it to strip off the grey. Then you will need a sandable primer that has good leveling properties to make the surface smooth and even. This could take several prime and sand steps to get it to that point. Then you are ready to take it to the body shop for a good clean shiny job for a great price too.Chris
I am sick of trying to maintain the trim moulding on my '98 328iS. I saw an M3 today, and the owner had them painted to match the car. Very slick. Anyone know how this is done (aka do I need special moulding to get painted, etc). It gives the car such a nice, slick look.
