I am not the man on cams. I know more or less how to install them and what they are for, but mostly for chevy's, not BMW's. I don't know what Shricks webpage is. The best thing to do, is ask people on this board if they have installed cams. What brands, what durations, problems, how many miles have they had the cams (you want to know if they are happy after 20k or 50k miles). On Valve float, you may want to get racing springs and retainers or better yet titanium springs and retainers to help w/ valve float problems. The lighter weight will more rapidly open, and more importantly close the valve faster. You might also want to try www.bmpd.com as I beleive they have some good cams. Again, I don't know too much about BMW cams, especially for the 318, you should ask around the board for people that have used them.

Just my $.02, you should explore supercharging instead of the cam setup (less headaches and more attainable HP gains). Just make sure you find people that have used the charger system for a while (the important factor in charging is the fuel mixture, you don't want to melt your engine.

Good Luck
