Nitrous kits if used moderately are very safe.

You'll hear alot of people, who basically just associate NOS with top fuel dragsters and blowing up engines.... People don't realize that these people are pushing them to the extremes for every 1/10th of a horsepower....

Basically its just like the spider phenomena(sp?)... You know, one person said they were bad/icky... and everyone else associates that with it....

The biggest thing to keep in mind is the condition of your engine....internals...
If your motor is really worn, then most likely you WILL have problems with the extra strain...
A good engine should handle NOS (a moderate dose that is, not something like a 200HP boost kit...) w/o a problem when installed correctly....

Keep an eye out for some of the timing electronics that they have now.... Some of these kits can be very beneficial and even save your engine by monitoring the air/fuel/nos mixture for variations...

Personally, NOS would be in my near future, excepting for the simple fact that my engine is at 110k, and I only acquired it at around 100k... so I really can't tell what kind of background it had and don't know if it was really pushed hard enough to wear out some of the inners....

Good Luck,
And don't let other peoples phobias distract you!
(If someone says 'STAY AWAY', ask them why? did they actually try it? or is this some I heard for someone who heard? Also ask what type/boost of NOS their phobia relates too... most likely they were trying to over-do it... Professional install/recommendations will usually get you on the right track!!)
