when i bought my 97 318is it was 2 years old and was past due. Shortly after i bought it it broke down because the spark plugs were shot and it shorted out the spark plug wire. So the dealer said they would pay for a rental car if i got the service done with them (Brian Jessel BMW). They charged me $800Cdn! so i really had no choice. I would NOT take it to a dealer for service. There are alternative shops, i know in Abbotsford there is Valley Eurotech and i'm sure there are alternatives in Vancity.
