I just did the brakes on my '96 328is--measured the front rotors at 64K miles & found them almost at the limit, and the pads were about ready to hit the warning switch.

However, I didn't have any warping. You may have a sticky caliper that caused the rotor to overheat a lot, and that could also be a cause of brake squeaking.

I learned from doing the brakes on E34--only got about 45K miles because it was a heavier car--use OEM brake rotors; many aftermarket brands warp quickly.

I did switched to aftermarket pads, though: Axxis pads used to be known as Repco, and even the standard pad means no more black brake dust.

Also change the fluid--make sure that is done if you have the rest done, and remember to bleed the clutch hydraulics so there's new fluid there (I haven't done that yet.)

My 97 328iS is making many squeeking sounds as I stop and at high speeds the steering wheel shakes if I hit the brakes, what exactly needs to be done?
