He must know his stuff to make that call. I have read on this board that the E30 convertible shock mounts are sturdier...no personal experience. There are also aftermarket machined aluminum shock mounts that are designed for track use...again no personal knowledge. R&R is a relatively simple job especially if you have fold down rear seats. The shock tower mounts can be accessed from the cabin. This will save you a lot of time since the carpeting, speakers, etc. do not require removal. Hopefully someone on the board can add more detailed part information. BTW I have the original shock mounts and are in good condition. happy motoring
