In response to your last post, I just wanted to let you know that I am more into "other" (non-BMW) cars than many people on this board. I like the Audi S4, Acura CL Type S, Porsche Boxster S... and many others. However, I wouldn't feel right paying $30,000+ for a car that looks like an overgrown Ford Focus. There are many nice Lexus models out there, i.e. GS400 and LS430, but I don't think the IS300 does Lexus any justice. It doesn't come in manual transmission and is just the type of car a 16 year-old Civic driver would drool over. If you buy the IS300, you're not paying $30,000+ for a nice, sporty car... you're paying for the "prestige" of a Lexus and cheap, aftermarket mod-looking design (i.e. Altezza rear lights and 17" rims). If I had that kind of money and I had to get a non-manual Jap. car, I'd get an Acura CL Type S, wouldn't you? And to set the record straight about BMWs... there's a reason people like BMW, Audi, and Porsche - If you've ever driven a Lexus IS300 or Acura CL Type S, there is still a huge discrepancy in the "feel" of the car vs. a German car. Although the handling statistics may be similar, it does not reflect the overall fun of the car... go test drive one and you'll see what I'm talking about. I hate the mushy, "luxurious" handling cars... they just aren't any fun. If I really wanted a status-symbol car, I would be driving a Mercedes right now... ha ha.
