I mean it is dangerous anywhere. But I've been told for the amount of people who use the toll road there is a huge amount of fatal traffic accidents due to people going way faster than they should.
Basiclly what happens is that drivers feel the urge to go faster due to the emty road, well maintained, smooth pavement, and few patol units. However, the problem is the areas where they are often built are geologically prone to landslides and every now and then there is something blocking the road (whether it be dirt from a landslide, debris, or a parked car). So frequently these typically single or double laned toll roads do not allow the room for speeding cars to avoid the obstacles in a vehicle's pathway. Many times drivers will either fatally: run into the obstacle, run off the road, or stray off into oncoming traffic due to the excessive speeds and slow reaction times that result from being accustomed to the low driver adjustment nature of the empty toll roads.
I know it all sounds dumb... I mean you would think that if you can speed safely on the freeway why would it be anymore dangerous to speed on a toll road where there is lighter traffic. But it's just this mentallity that makes drivers slow to avoid accidents on the toll roads in addition to the fewer number of lanes. Anyways, just a very long word of warning. Sorry about the length, speed safely =)
