I believe a smog pump is an air pump which pumps extra air into the catalytic converter.

The purpose is to reduce emissions.

My '95 325i doesn't have one.

Are there E36's with smog pumps?


Has anyone had to replace a smog pump on an out of warranty car? Is there a seperate warranty that covers emissions equipment? I have a check engine light for a smog pump (or related equipment I guess). I guidance is greatly appreciated.
