Ok, let's see..In the last year i've replaced the radiator, shocks, clutch, brakes, exhaust, DRIVESHAFT, thermostat, water pump, alarm, control arm, and the BROKEN FRAME($2000). That's om top of regular maintenance such as oil changes, inpections, and so on.

Hope you don't mind my asking, but did you have an accident or something?

If you do drive like crazy, you might want to stick with the BMW. A lot of those jobs (clutch/frame/shocks) will be little or no cheaper on a VW or a honda and under the same driving conditions, you will likely do them more.

I think you're better off getting a faster car from the factory, too, if you're at all concerned with money and reliability. But that's a whole 'nother issue.
