I totally agree. I had a string of Acura Integra's from 86 through 93... Loved 'em (although I liked the 88 the best). Then I left the country for a few years. When I came back in 97, I had to get off the plane and take a taxi to a car dealer and buy a car. I bought a 97 Integra.... It's build quality is fine... but the handling and power aren't there. Further, the interior is gutted and looks like econo-crap.

Honda really has lost their way, and I like you I care enough to be pissed at them for it. They have the ability to build great cars... but the accountants think they're making more money this way... and it's true... for a while.

I'm thinking about dumping the Integra for a used 323 to go with the 328i. I'll pay more money for a used car with more miles to replace a perfectly reliable used car of the same age.. but at least I won't get mad at Honda every time I drive it.

OK... rant over...

The Accord is a cheap copy of a Buick - if you're gonna make a luxury (even that's dubious) coupe, might as well have it plush and comfy like the real thing. That ain't no sports car - allseason tires, raised suspension, feeble brakes, mushy handling, no get-up-and-go, auto tranny, etc., etc., etc.

The 5th gen prelude is a HUGE letdown. I had the 1998 model. TOTAL waste of time, money, and effort on part of Honda. Honda has the engineering brains to make the best cars in the world, the only thing is the company is run by accountants. They fucked-up so badly with the new Prelude it's not even funny. I take it personally when they do such a shitty job, because I also owned the 1988 Si model which was (and still is) one of the all-time greats. Its's 4WS was superb - second to none!

Once Honda starts making cars the way they should, then it'll be worth while looking at them. Now, they are AWFULL; Honda has lost their track, and purpose.

They should do a limited run of special Preludes; AWD, V6 (350hp) - no turbo, no supercharger, Racing Hart or Volk 19" wheels, Bridgestone Potennza PP2 tires, 14" discs with 6 pot calipers all around. lightened body (no rear seat) redesign the dash (lots of instruments; all dials like Smiths or Omori), sequential six speed gearbox, nice Recaro CF seats, 6 sets of Cibie lights), built-in roll cage, dash adjustable dampers, and ride height, meaty body kit (no huge rear spoiler), no electronic gimmickery (DVD or such), etc., etc., etc.

In other words, a real drivers car, which would knock the pants off of the Skyline, and such.
