HELP! New BMW owner. 1st speeding ticket! (more) (archive)

I jus got a ticket this weekend on my way from LA to San Diego. Not too bad though, the officer said I was going 82 in a 65 so it could've been much worse. You guys have any ideas on what to do about this? I was thinking of doing a trial by written declaration and explain that I was merging onto the freeway and some uncooperative drivers in the slow lane were'nt letting me in so I had to speed up to get around them. You think this will work???If not, what should i do! I think i am elligible for traffic school, so I will definitely do that, but i'd love to get the fine reduced of possibly even dropped. My driving record is pretty clean so I want to keep it that way! Thanks for the help!!
