I am having the same problem on my 325is. There is a very good post a while back which I am trying to search. I will repost it if I find it. Basiclly you take the idle control valve off the car and spray cleaner on it.

When I start my car it idles fine, but when I start to drive, the engine bounces from 500 rpm to about 1000 rpm repeatedly at stops. This happens only for the first 15 minutes. I remember reading something about this earlier , but i couldn't find the post. Please Help! Thanks in advance.
