I may alienate myself from the E46 board but I must say that I haven't seen near as many helpful discussions on that board.

my body shop took a similar ding out of my schintzer rear bumper,,, basically they smooth it out and fill in the area with a plastic filler that is the same plastic as the bumper, then paint.
