Firstly, you have the exchange rate, then you have the tarrif which is different for products made in USA, and Mexico vs. the rest of the world, then you have PST, and the GST nowdays.

The shipping costs will add up as well.

Every time I buy something from US I check with the Customs Canada (Blue Pages in the Telephone Book) to see how much they will want.

Tire Rack was good a few years ago (used to get stuff from them myself), but nowdays the Canadian distributors have smartened up, and do not charge so much or have a huge mark-up.

Many years ago I bought P7 tires from them at about US$100 a pop (when the two dollars were almost equal). The Superior Tire on Sheppard (and others) wanted about CDN$500 for each.

Times have changed.
