I think you're getting confused with the e30 deadlock. To deadlock an E36 turn the key anti-clockwise 45 degrees. If you listen carefully you can here the deadlock engage, especially if the windows are open. The deadlock is electric rather than mechanical, as is the case with the E30 and probably other older bimmers. The key hole does not need to stay 90 degrees to vertical for the deadlock to be engaged.


I tired to deadlock this particualr model today, but it would only turn 45 Degrees form vertical, instead of 90. is it still deadlocking ? Need to know for possible alarm install
