Im not sure about the intake you are describing specifically, but, I have the Jim Conforti intake and I am very impressed. The shield totally closes off the engine bay from the filter, and it looks very professional once installed (speaking of installed, one can uninstall/reinstall it in about 20 minutes; important if the car is under warrantee and you dont want the local dealer to see it) In terms of performance, my 328iS rocks now (I also have an M3 exhaust and Dinan software). The sound is greatI am getting a sub 6 second 0-60! (Im using a G-tech for that #) I chose the conforti over the Dinan because it requires no mods (the dinan requires remounting of the horn) Also, I like the fact that it is high in the engine compartment, to avoid sucking any water in severe rain, highway flooding conditions. Finally, from those I talked to (and Im sure this could be debated endlessly), I heard that the IGT foam filter is better for engine longevity than the K&N cotton gauze cone filter.
