blown shock? (archive)

Today, when putting on my new sway bars, I noticed that one of my rear shocks was much dirtier than the other. When I looked closer I noticed a white oil like substance on the shock. Is that shock oil? Do I need to replace the shock? I haven't noticed any problems when driving. I have Bilsten shocks on the car.
