Thanks! That was very helpful.
I guess I'll just stick with my K & N filter for now.
Do you have chip or exhaust on your car? Did they pass the smog okay for you?

Jon

I have an ECIS in california but I havent had my car long enough to have to smog it. My hunch is it would not pass the visual portion of the test. There is no CARB number in the instructions or packing list or on the unit itself so I doubt it is smog legal. The good news is the ECIS installation is completely reversable and it doesn't take long to do it. Just switch the car back for the inspection. As far as performance goes, You will like the sound / performance of the ECIS much better than a modified stock airbox, which by the way is not reversable and is not smog legal. Also the filter area of the ECIS is actually larger than the stock setup so the filter has an easier way to go. Gains on either system are relatively small, just a few horses at best.

Chris

My car had passed smog inspection in CA with a chip and exhaust installed before. My question is, if I add an ECIS intake to the car, would I have to remove it for the next inspection? Or it'll pass without a problem?
Since I haven't bought the intake yet. I am still debating if I should just take out the baffles from the stock airbox, which currently uses a K & N filter or shell out $200 for the ECIS.
Which method will give me the best sound/performance?
Any opinions?
Thanks

Jon
