I have '96 328i. In winter I put 4 Blizzaks on and 2 70 lb. tube sands in trunk. It will go anywhere. If I were you I would definitely get traction control. Another option is to find a '88-'91 325ix. Great AWD car and people sell them up your way in the spring. If you get an A4 think about the 1.8t and chip it.
Good luck,
Pete
I owned a '94 325is previously in Dallas, Texas. I'm living in New Hampshire now and looking at finding a car (the old 325 got destroyed by psychotic pick-up truck drivers).

I was wondering what people's experiences have been with 3 series cars (E36) in the snow/ice.

I'm also considering A4s since I can get either front-wheel or four-wheel drive, but considering sticking with BMW since the cars (all of them I've had) have been so great.

Any input appreciated. I would also appreciate if you could copy responses to my email (ahaig@warped-reality.com).

Thanks
-Asher
