Well hey, for 200-1000 less than a new one, you could by up to eight of them.

LOL. I don't know what you're going to do with 8 M3 exhausts, but I'll leave it at that.

OK, everybody slides a little bit. But these M3 exhausts are well built and last a long time.

A LITTLE BIT? LOL That's a good one. Esp. on the internet. I hope you didn't mean that.
But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Let's say the guy's telling the truth (who knows how you'll verify it). You don't know how this guy drove his car. You don't know if this guy may have hit a pothole or two or more. Who knows....IT MAY EVEN BE STOLEN! (sound familiar?)

So OEM exhasuts are meant to last a while. But is that any reason why you should buy it used from someone you don't know who may or may not have done something to it?

> Risk? It's just an exhaust. And his car is 9 years old. What's it going to hurt??

An exhaust may not do anything to the engine or something major like that, but let's say he goes to the $tealer and finds out for one reason or another he has to get the exhaust replaced one or two years later. Assuming he wants to keep the car longer, its not worth having to deal with, maintanance should be for something necessary, such as changing fluids or replacing brakes or a water pump. Having to potentially replace an exhaust shouldn't be a repeat probelm. not to mention the money and time spent going to get it fixed. And given the fact that his car is 9 years old, he should be even more careful about the parts he puts in his car.

If looking for a low cost replacement for an exhaust it's a bargain. Especially when it's 1/3 the cost of a new stock one.

Yeah, its a bargain. A bargain with potential consequences. You never know how long a used exhaust will last. Yes, you COULD end up buying a used exhaust that will last you a long time, but unless you get some sort of guarantee from the seller, that exhaust COULD go bad tomorrow.

I know some parts of my argument may seem superficial, but when you're buying from someone you don't know, it doesn't seem so superficial does it?

Now if you're buying from someone you absolutely know and trust, that's a different story. If you're buying an M3 exhaust NEW, that too is a different story, although I think that too is pointless.
