With the transmission in park (or in gear for a manual):

---> Without LSD: The wheel will turn easily by hand, and the other wheel will turn in the OPPOSITE direction.

---> With LSD: it will be difficult to turn the wheel by hand. (If it does turn, the other wheel will still turn in the OPPOSITE direction.)

With the transmission in neutral:

---> With LSD: It will be easy to turn the wheel by hand. Both wheels will turn in the SAME direction.

Sorry for the mis-information.

Lift the rear wheels off the ground.

Be careful, use blocks, engine off, yada, yada.

With the transmission in gear (or in park for an auto.), turn one of the wheels by hand.

If the wheel on the other side turns the same way, you have LSD.

If the wheel on the other side turns the opposite way, you don't have LSD.

limited slip differential. How do I find this out, what should I look for. I just bought the car.

Thanks in advance!

That can't work, If you put an auto trans in park the rear wheels would be locked. If it were manual in gear most people would not have the strength to turn the axle, trans and the engine thru compression cycle.
