Last weekend at an auto-x event my car was moderatly understeering when pushed hard. I have Eibach sways set on soft front and back. My question is, would setting my rear bar on firm clear up the understeer or do I need to change other settings like camber?
BTW: my tires were at 38psi up front and 36psi rear, next time I'm going to drop them down to 36psi and 32psi, someone told me that might help. What do you guys think?
Play with tire pressures first! It takes some experimenting to get it right. Don't get too worried about more advanced things like shock/swaybar/camber settings (at least until you fully understand what the car is doing and why). Its amazing what the little things like tire pressure can do in autocross.
I agree with running around a two psi difference between front and rear (vs. the four you had). The actual psi will depend on type of tires and size, of course. I usually start with the fronts 1.5-2psi more than the rear and go from there.
Proper tuning takes time. For example, my car is completely stock performance-wise save racing tires/wheels for autocross. I've spent several events just getting tire pressures right for this setup. Now, I know what the best is and what I need to modify to improve performance, that is allowed in my class. In my case, this will be a front swaybar. I will then spend several races tuning that combo before installing adjustable shocks, which then involve more tuning...
