I have a nicely modded, low mileage, 94 325i and need to make a decision. I was planning on taking some money from my 401k to help cover the difference and sell my car to money up for an M3. But then the gears started turning in my head, keep my already sorted out 325i/M34 look-alike and drop an M3 motor in it, or buy the entry level AA turbo set-up for the car. The benefit of the turbo kit is that you can take it off and easily sell it if the next buyer of your car doesn't want it. If you drop an M3 motor in you could sell the stock motor out of your car to get back some of that money (not much) and it would be cheaper than the turbo, but it may hurt the resale depending on what area of the country you are in, (easy to sell on the west coast, not in Kansas City where I am). I have decided to do what started this all and try to get the best price for my car and money up to an M3, you get the suspension, the brakes, the whole package. After I spoke to Josh at EuroSport and found out that a euro HFM package with some Shrick cams would get almost 300 hp out of the 95 M3 I decided thats where I want to be. Just make sure that you start out with a good and properly sorted out car as a platform, make sure its mechanically up-to-snuff before you start dropping all this cash on it or you might break something else in the process.
