Just follow the fuel line down from the throttle body - where it meets a black cylinder with a jubilee clip at either end is the fuel filter. You don't open it up you replace it.

It is low down in the engine jusdt above the subframe.

I have bought a replacement fuel filter for my 92 318i. I have located a plastic container in the engine compartment which I think may house the filter. If I am correct, I cant work out how to open it up. Can anyone shed some light on the situation? I am scared to use too much force just in case I break anything, any tips are greatly appreciated.
