I learned the hard way about the plastic impeller on the water pump. The impeller disintegrated while my brother was driving (ok, thrashing) the car on some NH back roads. Not only did the water pump disintegrate, it took the cheap plastic-sided radiator with it.
Thankfully the water pump was only $50 at Bavarian Auto.

I hope to be a good addition the the E36 family... this is a 93 325i....

But first things first, I need a few easy questions answered before my Bently manual comes!

1) Exactly how much noise should the vanos unit make. I understand that a loud clicking will indicate failure, this one passed inspection at the dealer, but it makes a quiet clicking if I put my ear to it.

2) The warning system says that the cooland level is low after I shut off the ignition. The level is O.K. Is the sensor at the bottom of the expansion resevoir, if so how hard to replace?

3) Is the valve adjusting on these cars the same as for my E30? I can't see the valves or rockers thru the oil fill cap like on the oldies.

Any other tips would be great!

Thanks,

Don C
