Clunk/Whine from Left Rear (archive)

On medium to hard launches that turn to the right, such as stopping at an intersection and then turning right, I'm hearing a clunking sound from the left rear suspension/drivetrain area of the car. Also, when I corner hard to the right I hear a whining noise from the left rear. Any ideas? TIA
