Hey man, I have a 93 318is W/ a downing atlanta supercharger. The car now has 155k miles and i have not had any major probs. About a yr ago i had to change the a/c compressor, new ecu about 2yrs ago because i had a cracked coil shorted it out. some of the earlier e36 318s had a head gasket problem, but it would have showed up way before 160k miles.
I still have the original clutch, but it has recently been slipping badly. I very often run the car hard, and it just seems to keep going. I'm planning on rebuilding the motor over next winter, but it really doesnt need it. I tested the compression about a month ago and it was perfect. It also burns the same amount of oil as it did w/ 30k miles. From what you say, it sounds like its a nice car and has been taken care of. i would go for it. But im sure theres gonna be other people who are going to say dont touch it.
