What you want to do is establish yourself as a person who expects the car to be perfect when it is returned. Most bodyshops have the ability to do perfect work. However, that takes longer and costs more. But, what costs them even more is to have to do work over again. If the manager knows that you will only accept the car once it's done right, he'll make sure to keep a closer eye on your car as the repairs are done. Let them know in a very friendly way, that you have the POTENTIAL to be a pain in the butt.
Don't turn in your rental car until you are satisfied with the work. I saw a lady in tears when I was picking up a car once as the shop had done a terrible job fixing a dent. But she had turned in her rental and had to go to work the next day.
