Don't know if you have a valeo alt. but I do & had pulsing dash lights + code 1231 + intermittent gear (trans) & check engine lights. The volt. reg. was shot. Since I didn't know when or if the alt. had been replaced or reman., I replaced the whole thing.

Gear & check eng. lights are now OFF (& stay off).

(something about cascading faults triggered from the bad voltage).



I have a 93 325i, and occasionally on startup the transmission light comes on, which significantly affects the power of the vehicle. However, the problem seems to disappear when I restart the car but leaving the key in the 2nd position, until the light comes off, and then starting the car. What is the problem? I'd greatly appreciate any help.
