They have detailed instructions on doing all kinds of maintenance. As far as your fluid goes, look in your owners manual, find out exactly what kind of tranny fluid to get. You have to check auto tranny fluid while the engine is running, and warmed up. Check the dipstick and add in the same tube as the dipstick goes in. It is a small tube, so I recommend using a funnel. Add a little at a time until you are reading full on the stick.


This 1995 318i is my first Bmw and wanting to do some easy first-time maintenance I thought I'd change the oil. I ended up draining out about 20oz. of atf before I could get the plug back in! Can I top it off with RedlineD4ATF? Should I drain it entirely then replace it with Redline? Or should I just use fluid from the dealer. Is the 1995 car filled with lifetime fluid? Btw, what type of oil and filter do you recommend for this car. Thanks, Jim
