Be sure to check the expansion valve too. A typical cause of condensor and dryer failure is over-pressurization of the system due to expansion valve failure. (Things like that may be why the cost of repair is so high.) Mine cost about $900 to fix.


just recharged the R-134 & lost it all in a day. The black light shws traces at the bottom corners of the condenser and all around the dryer top.

New condenser's $250 and the dryer's 57 bucks. Seems the nastiest part is you have to remove the front bumper to get the condenser out. After that it just seems to drop out with two top bolts. Dryer's pretty basic to get out. I can't see this being more than a few hours work for a garage. Add an hour to evacuate moisture & recharge & a kg of refrigerant & I don't see a total bill of more than $500, 600 max.

Where you guys are coming up with 1000-1300 bucks is beyond me. Are these dealer prices?
