Somewhere posted in the archives of www.riceboypage.com is either a nisan maxima or a honda prelude (can't remember which) which had a defective presure release valve on it's NOS tank. On top of that, the guy left the warming coil on while unloading groceries from the car, and the thing blew up... Big time. The whole back end of the car looked like a peeled orange.

Anyway, yes... NOS tanks can blow... =)
