I have the same problem. I have copied some posts, apparently previous users have been able to get inside and clean it (it requires some work here, to remove the film).

I bought a Haynes manual but it doesn't explain how to remove the plastic covering, I'm gonna try next week... Email me then and I'll let you know how I did it. You may have to take out the entire assembly which first requires you remove the side indicator light, and the plastic covering.
