I have had a 318is and now have a 325i (both 5-spd.) There is a huge difference in power- the inline six is fast and a lot more torque than the 4. I loved the 318, but it just wasn't enough power. I would say get a 5-spd. 325, 328, or M3 (what ever you can afford). You will love it!
