Who makes the quietest cold air intake system? (archive)

'94 325is definitely loses power on hot days. Some sort of heat shield would probably help. I wouldn't mind going to a CAI if it isn't boy-racer - ish loud. Not looking to increase noise level. OK, maybe just slightly as long as there isn't a big roar when I open the throttle.
How are the K&N FIPK Kits? Not interested in some $600 mod, just want to cool the intake air, maybe pick up a few HP.
