like what john said, its a fancy anit-theft system that tracks and locates the car. i have it and i regret having it. i feel it's a waste of money that could of been used somewhere else. i'll tell you why. i don't want my car back if it's already been stolen for over a number of hours. reason behind this is because chances are it has been striped and abandoned. now if you get the car back, it will never be the same as before. i know a person that used to steal cars and now changed his life around and told me what they do and how easy it is to steal them. if someone wants your car they'll get it. the lo-jack will only catch rookies but not the pros. the bmw is a fairly hard vehicle to steal. just put on a fairly descent alarm and don't worry about it. if its gone, its gone. thats why we have insurance. hope that helps.C.L.
